Former Edo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) woman leader, Mrs Stella Evbuoman has been hospitalised after thugs reportedly attacked her at the Benin airport on Friday.

Reports indicate the ex-woman leader was among other party supporters that went to the airport to welcome the PDP Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Matthew Urhoghide from Abuja.

It was gathered that the senator on arrival was held hostage for over two hours inside the VIP lounge of the airport by some youths suspected to be members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for moving a motion for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Reports said some PDP youths who came to the airport to rescue the senator were chased away by the waiting APC youths.

There were reports accusing Governor Godwin Obaseki of doing nothing to stop the rampaging APC youths from harassing the senator.

It was further gathered that other PDP leaders who were at the airport to welcome the senator with a red carpet reception and the Edo cultural troupe members fled for their lives on sighting the APC youths.
