APC Chairmanship Candidate Shot Dead In Delta State

Gunmen suspected to be assassins have killed an All Progressives Congress, (APC) ward chairmanship candidate, Jeremiah Oghoveta, in Delta State, according to reports.

Mr. Oghoveta, according to Vanguard, was contesting for Jeremi ward III in Ughelli South local government area of the state.

Oghoveta in his late 30s was stabbed on the neck ahead of the nationwide ward congress of the AOc near God’s Grace Ministry at Okwagbe town.d

Mr. Oghoveta had witnessed the hijacking of electoral materials by some members of the party and had protested. In anger, one of the party members engaged him in a fight and during the feud, stabbed him severely in the neck. The suspect later fled the scene.

As at press time, party members declined speaking with our correspondent, even as the party was yet to decide whether to go ahead with the congress in the area.

When contacted, the Delta State acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said he is not aware of the development but he promised to find out and get back to our correspondent.
